I have a knack for start ups. In my business and volunteer careers I have led the formation of teams, departments, major projects and systems, and companies. I’m good at it.
I believe that having vision is one of the most important characteristics of leaders. A leader with vision can push past the inevitable obstacles that pepper the path to great achievement. The leader who clarifies his or her vision and makes an action plan for its achievement will enjoy the greatest success.
In my nine published books I have lifted the sights of thousands of readers. With such titles as Make Your Life a Masterpiece and I Wish to Be Useful I stress striving beyond the status quo and making action plans for balanced success.
I enjoy the outdoors. Hence, my book The Wabash Trace Nature Trail End to End was a work of love. I serve on the board of directors for the Southwest Iowa Nature Trails, Inc.
I enjoy distance cycling and once rode my recumbent bicycle from my Omaha home to St. Louis—a distance of nearly 500 miles. My wife and I also rode across Missouri on the Katy Trail.
